What is PDCPD?

//

PDCPD, short for Polydicyclopentadiene, is a lightly cross-linked thermosetting cycloolefin engineering plastic produced via Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP), classified as a high-performance thermosetting resin.
Compared with other mainstream resins, it generates lower carbon dioxide emissions throughout its full life cycle, covering raw material sourcing, resin synthesis, molding processing and end-of-life disposal, which qualifies it as an innovative eco-friendly material.
It is injected into molds by low-pressure RIM equipment and cures in one step to form large-size housings and structural components. It combines the corrosion resistance of fiberglass-reinforced plastics, the toughness of polyurethane, the lightweight advantage of conventional plastics, and the impact resistance of metals. It is widely adopted to replace fiberglass, aluminum alloy, thick-wall PU and general engineering plastics for manufacturing large special-shaped outer casings.

Excellent Performance

Low-density PDCPD boasts high toughness, low creep and great fatigue resistance for large structural housings

PDCPD resists diverse chemicals and seawater, better corrosion resistance than regular FRP for marine & chemical parts

Low-viscosity PDCPD molds fast at low pressure, easy coating for complex lightweight mass-produced parts

Stable, UV-resistant insulating PDCPD fits energy and transit equipment with flame-retardant options
